Love

Some days all you can do is find a devotion to the little moments that are presented to us, and today that was my water-colours of purpose scheduled expectedly on the canvas of many opportunities. I am privileged in this Friendship and for the start of this day for I see her life bursting with a rainbow of Beautiful colors walking in the semicircles of her kindnesses. My Friend Shauna invited me to come to the Cancer Clinic with her today, and I noticed a waiting-room of many feelings.

I met a lady who was angry that her Brother died at the fault of the Doctors and I cried with her because people don’t fit into a package of excellence every day, and being human has eternal consequences on both sides of the pain.

I met another lady who was attending a funeral on Sunday of her Best Friend’s Daughter and as she told more of her story I put my hand on her knee and told her I knew some of the pain of losing my own Boy Daniel. Then she told me of a man who backed over a boy named Daniel and how it had imprisoned another Family Friend in a cage of depression and sorrow. There is pain all around us, and we don’t have to be in a hospital to view it.

I think when we allow our Love to reach beyond the fear of subtraction and take a chance on reaching further than our own chair of comfort, no one feels alone.

Some of the patients there were in touch with the pain, the fear and the regret of goals not accomplished. I wish they knew they didn’t have to prove themselves to anyone. Each precious soul a unique handpicked crystal ornament of delicate beauty placed within the soul of those who refuse to stop believing in their irreplaceable significance, how courageous each one.

When we were leaving a lady paid our parking and told us that her Friend who had just recently lost her husband wanted to show kindness to others. When we walked out the doors the lady who had lost her dear husband was waiting outside with a yellow rose for each person walking through those cancer doors. As she handed us the rose she said “God Loves us, each one”. Wow!

I went with intention to purposefully inspire someone but her gift was deeper draped in the sacrifice of brokenness as she laid down her own pain in compassion for another. How the truth in her gentle unassuming kindness set her apart for a Kingdom not built by human hands. Sometimes Love finds you even after the doors have already closed.

Mark 12:30-31 “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

I was thankful My Sweet Friend Shauna received good news today!
