Happy Thanksgiving

Posted by:

As with any person timely enough to be born, I have been the container for some pretty difficult days. I was reflecting on that and pondered the idea that even in bad days there is always something to be thankful for.

Now don’t get me wrong, I tend to side-step the community that says “suck it up” or “someone else has it worse than you” I mean really!? How helpful are those words to a heart that just lost their child or just got the news they have cancer? It doesn’t have to be the worse news to you, it can just be the worse news to them. But having typed those words I know there can always be some growth in the rain if we give the ground enough time to receive it. But when you rush the change with your many words of advantage, you become the tidal wave of agony flooding the soul that’s losing in the magnitude of their own sinking. We need to rethink our words or maybe quite possibly as little words as looked-for!

I know when I lost my Child in a car accident, I scarcely remember one word said to me but I will never forget are the hands that carried my pain, the eyes that overflowed with love for me, the ears that listened in my weeping and the feet of those who still walk beside me. In a loss so immeasurable I am thankful for these moments of Love.

I think most people say their thankful for Family, Friends, Health and Safekeeping. How wonderful these things are. But what if we took our Families to the Neighbour who sits alone and thanked God that He gave you the eyes to see them, ears to listen and a heart that makes one less lonely in the world around you. What if we destroyed our indifference with compassion and our words with actions?

There’s so much to be thankful for but for me today it’s two shouts out and up for You! So even before the pain passes, the rain ends and the rainbow lights the world again with a promise I wish the world a little Thanksgiving

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Thessalonians 5:18
