John 3:16-17

Posted by:

Been supporting a friend this week, she has lost her job due to addiction. She was behind the wheel of a car after a few glasses of wine. She is having the most terrible time trying to face this charge. She has been beating herself and telling herself that she cannot survive the failure of her actions and though I do not make light of driving while under the influence, I wish she would forgive herself and receive the restoration that is in Christ.

We sometimes judge others so harshly when it comes to public failures! Yet the truth is we all fall down and we all make mistakes. “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

Many people don’t read on and receive the atoning grace of God that is available in the next verse. We do not have to live in the failures of our past but have ability to move forward through His redeeming authority. “And all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” Romans 3:24

I used to beat myself up so bad and join in with the other “religious people” who would remind me of my failures and though I do not make light of my sinful personality, I do rejoice in the freedom that comes with turning from my bad behaviour and receiving the complete forgiveness of God. For if God sent his Son to save me then who should dare condemn me?

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. John 3 16-17

It is always easier to point out an other’s faults than it is to look honestly at our own. Those who do look inward and seek God’s leading to purify their own lives should never dare judge an other’s worth. The bible says to consider others better than ourselves Philippians 2:3. When we point out some other person’s faults we are considering ourselves better than them.

God, the ultimate daddy, never loves us less because we mess up, and we, His children, who live by the leading of His Holy Spirit, should not love others less either, who have made mistakes.

Like Daniel’s song ‘Ready’ says, “God’s up to something much bigger than we know”. Please check out the song by clicking on the play button at the top of the Gallery page on this website.

      Kerri,
So true, I needed that reminder.
Sometimes it is so hard to see that God is up to something bigger when your right in the fire!
Even when the fires our fault, He has promised to work all things out for our good when we love him, we just have to humble ourselves to His calling. There is no greater rescue then at His feet!
I know that I never, ever want to be in this world without His love surrounding me.

      Thanks so much,
      Momma T

Really nice song in memory of a really nice person. All Dan’s pictures show him smiling and happy, just the way we found him to be, pretty much every time we seen him. A great guy you can be very proud of, Momma T.

      Ian,

So true, I don’t think I ever seen him without that smile. I know to the depths of my soul Daniel had a wee special spirit from God. I sometimes wonder and actually really think Daniel was born with a powerful call.
I can think of no greater honour then to be in the service of the Lord!
