The Armor of God

At any moment there can be a bottleneck ahead on the road I like to call this life! If you’re like me you might just unpack your tent and camp right there never trying to go past it! There is a problem with my line-of-attack and that is the lack thereof!

I am beginning to consider that God might just want to get my attention with this one “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 Twice this week that scripture has been staring me “on purpose” in the Soul! I’m constantly declaring that I don’t like the “trouble” chunk of this verse for one second and that’s what it feels like when I gripe I’m liberally giving a chunk of my heart away!

It’s starting to take root in me that we can either camp in defeat until the troubles pass and we are unharmed in the battle or we can encounter the impasse with strength of mind! We can put out the campfire, pack up the marshmallow pity-party about what others have done against us, learn to forgive and take our stand against the devil’s schemes! If we are going to fight with words, let them come from the Bible and if I’m going to take a stand let it be on the Word of God!

Father help me to learn to fight the powers of a dark world and not another, taking to Heart that Jesus is already The Lord of every outcome!

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
